Welcome to the Official website of the 31st Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Brigade. The 31st CBRN Brigade's mission is to provide command and control of two CBRN Battalions and two Military Police Battalions and other assigned and attached units.
The mission of the CBRN Corps is to protect the force and allow the Army to fight and win against a Chemical, Biological, Radiological or Nuclear (CBRN) threat. The corps develops doctrine, equipment and training for NBC defense which serve as a deterrent to ANY adversary possessing weapons of mass destruction. The corps also provides the Army with the combat multipliers of smoke, obscurant and flame capabilities.
The CBRN Corps is capable of countering the entire range of CBRN threats and effects to protect our Nation, operating seamlessly with military and civilian partners, while conducting simultaneous operations from civil support to war.
Military Police Corps officers lead units in performing the five major functions associated with the branch -- area security; maneuver and mobility support; police intelligence operations; internment and resettlement; and law and order.
One of 31st CBRN Brigade's main roles is to conduct Defense Support of Civillian Authorities (DSCA) missions as assigned through the governor. Such DSCA missions include the National Guard's response to the April 2011 tornadoes, Hurricane Katrina and the Deep Water Horizon oil spill.
