Command Sergeant Major Kinder is a native of Oneonta, Alabama. He entered military service in the Alabama Army National Guard 24 September 1975 and after completing high school reported for Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training on 4 June 1976 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
Since completing Basic and Advanced Individual Training, he has served in a variety of assignments and positions culminating in his present assignment.
His past assignments and positions include: Clerk, Det. 1, 123rd Supply and Services Company; Card Punch Operator, Det. 1, 123rd Supply and Service Company; Material Control and Accounting Specialist, 123rd Supply and Services Company; Supply Sergeant, 123rd Supply and Services Company; Detachment Sergeant, 1200th Quartermaster Battalion; Battalion NBC NCO, 1200th Quartermaster Battalion; Battalion Communications NCO, 1200th Quartermaster Battalion; Chemical Operations NCO, 167th Theater Sustainment Command; Senior Material Control Supervisor, 226th Area Support Group; Security Plans and Operations Sergeant Major, 226th Area Support Group; Senior Logistics Services Supervisor, 226th Area Support Group; Senior Logistics Operations Sergeant Major, 135th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary). CSM Kinder's most recent assignment was as Command Sergeant Major, Joint Sustainment Command-Afghanistan, United States Forces Afghanistan.
CSM Kinder is currently still assigned to the 135th ESC on an AGR tour, where he continues to lead as the senior enlisted soldier. CSM Kinder currently still lives in Oneonta with his wife Janet, and together they have 4 adult children.
