The Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program (YRRP) helps National Guard members and their Families connect with community resources before, during and after a deployment.  The YRRP provides support throughout the deployment cycle.  The overall goal is to minimize the stress of a deployment and family separation.  YRRP events inform service members and their families about benefits, educational opportunities, financial counseling, legal assistance and more.  Following a deployment, the program holds reintegration activities at thirty and sixty-day intervals.  Reintegration event presentations address the following issues:

  • Department of Veteran's Affairs (VA) benefits and enrollment
  • Veteran's service organizations
  • The Veteran's Centers
  • Military career counseling
  • Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR)
  • Education benefits
  • Resiliency awareness
  • U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) resources
  • Financial counseling
  • Safety awareness
  • Service member record processing
  • Welcome home activities

Are family members invited to attend Yellow Ribbon Events?

Yes.  Family members are strongly encouraged to attend YRRP events.  The events provide useful information and resources for Service Members and their families.  The YRRP events that occur during deployment are designed specifically for families.

Is attendance at Yellow Ribbon Events mandatory?

Service Members in the Alabama National Guard are required to attend YRRP events.

How do I find and register for Yellow Ribbon Events?

The Event Planning Tool located on, or the Joint Services Support portal located on, displays the events scheduled as they are approved.  The link to the tool can be found in the left navigation bar under “Find an Event.”  Once you locate an event you would like to attend you can either register through the Event Planning Tool (if enabled by the unit) or contact the listed event point of contact for further information and registration.

I recently attended a Yellow Ribbon Reintegration event and still have questions, where can I go for additional help?
