Alabama National Guard | Always Ready, Always There
Alabama National Guard > Resources > Soldier and Family Support Network

The Alabama National Guard has numerous programs to provide support and guidance to Soldiers and their Families.  Soldier and Family Support Services (SFSS) offices are located throughout the state and locations include a Joint-Forces Headquarters element in Montgomery, a satellite SFSS office in Birmingham, and Wing Family Program Coordinators offices at the Air National Guard’s 187th Fighter Wing and 117th Air Refueling Wing.

SFSS also hosts five Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program events for Service Members and their Families from each unit that deploys.  The events take place before, during and after the deployment and are designed to assist in preparing the Soldiers and their Family members to cope with the deployment, to focus on key issues that commonly surface during the deployment and to prepare the Family for the homecoming of their Service Member.  The Alabama National Guard’s SFSS offices have a staff of professionals dedicated to the well-being of Service Members and their Families.

Our purpose is to improve the quality of life of Soldiers and their Families in the Army National Guard by providing responsive, efficient and high quality support services that promote self-sufficiency, well-being and prosperity of individuals, Families, businesses and communities.
