The State Command Inspector General is a Regular Army Colonel detailed by the Department of the Army and the National Guard Bureau.

IG Mission
The Inspector General is the confidential advisor to The Adjutant General of the Alabama National Guard and serves as an extension of the eyes, ears, voice and conscience of the commander, and determines, for the commander the state of economy, efficiency, discipline, morale, esprit de corps and readiness throughout the Alabama National Guard.
IG Vision
Leaders proactively seek IG assistance to prevent injustices/perceived injustices, increase Soldier confidence in leaders, and reduce IG complaints.
IG Functions
Inspections, Assistance, Investigations, and Teach & Train. The Inspector General office provides assistance to members of the National Guard, Department of Defense Civilians, Retirees, Military Technicians and family members by performing inquiries, investigations and compliance inspections of units as needed. We are committed to providing the members of the Alabama National Guard with instructions and guidance on the Army and Air National Guard systems, procedures and processes.
